Calico Persian for Sale in Dubai: A Colour Guide
A calico Persian for sale in Dubai is easy to spot and easy to misunderstand. The colours look rare. The facts behind them are simple, and a few seller claims deserve a second look. Here is what to know before you choose one.
What Makes a Persian a Calico
Calico is a colour pattern, not a breed. A calico Persian has three colours in patches: white, black, and orange. Each kitten’s pattern is unique. You cannot order a specific pattern from a litter.
Calico also differs from similar coats:
- Tortoiseshell: black and orange mixed, with little or no white.
- Tabby and white: stripes plus white, with no solid orange patches.
- Calico: large white areas with separate black and orange patches.
Calico Colour Types You Will See
- Classic calico: white, black, and orange.
- High white calico: mostly white with small patches of colour.
- Dilute calico: white with soft blue-grey and cream. Some sellers call it “blue cream and white.”
These types differ in look only. They do not differ in health or temperament.
Why Almost Every Calico Is Female
The genes for orange and black sit on the X chromosome. A cat needs two different X chromosomes to show both colours. Females have two X chromosomes. Males usually have one.
So nearly every calico is female. A true male calico is very rare. It usually has an extra chromosome, and these cats are often sterile.
The “Male Calico” Warning
Some sellers advertise a “rare male calico Persian” at a high price. Treat that claim with caution. Ask for a vet’s written confirmation of the kitten’s sex. For a male calico, ask for proof of the genetic cause as well.
A kitten sold on a rare label should come with rare-level proof. If the seller cannot give it, walk away.
Price: What to Expect in Dubai
Persian kittens in Dubai currently run about AED 2,500 to 3,500. Plain listings mostly sit between AED 2,500 and 3,000. Sellers who include a passport, pedigree, and health guarantee ask more.
Many sellers price by paperwork and pedigree more than by colour. Ask whether the calico pattern changes the price, and get the final number in writing. For a full price breakdown, read our guide to Persian kittens for sale in Dubai.
Checks Before You Pay a Deposit
- The kitten is at least 12 weeks old.
- The vaccination record shows real dates.
- The microchip number matches the paperwork.
- A vet has confirmed the kitten’s sex.
- The eyes are clear, the nose is clean, and breathing is easy.
- You have seen the mother, by visit or video call.
- The seller can say whether the parents were screened for PKD, a known Persian kidney condition.
Care in Dubai
A Persian coat needs brushing every day. The white patches show tear stains, so wipe the eye corners daily. Keep the cat indoors in air conditioning. Persians handle heat poorly, and flat faces make breathing harder in summer.
Register your kitten with Dubai Municipality in the first week. Your vet can microchip and register it with your Emirates ID.
Is a Calico Persian Right for You?
Pick a calico Persian if you like the look and enjoy daily grooming. Pick another colour if you want a specific pattern guaranteed, because calico patterns cannot be planned.
Come by the shop to see our Persian kittens. We will go through the papers and the kitten’s health with you before you commit.
How much is a calico Persian in Dubai?
Current Dubai listings put Calico Persian kittens at AED 2,500 to 3,500.
Are calico Persians always female?
No, nearly all calico Persians are female due to genetics, but very rarely, a male calico can occur (usually as a result of a chromosomal condition like XXY).
